Trees of Historic Bethlehem

This self guided tour showcases more than 28 trees on display across five historic sites, the Trees of Historic Bethlehem is a time-honored tradition in the Christmas City. This year, each tree is decorated by member of the Bethlehem Garden club, themed to Timeless Games including Scrabble, Checkers and Clue.

Also included in your ticket is the one-of-a-kind Holiday Putz Trail in Historic Bethlehem! The word “Putz” means “to decorate” or “to embellish”. These miniature replicas depict various settings of the Nativity Story through the use of ornate and hand-crafted figurines.

Twice recognized as one of the best holiday markets in the U.S. by Travel + Leisure this heart warming holiday event features: Handmade works by more than 50 of the nations’s finest artisans, beautiful sounds of live Christmas music and jolly Old St. Nick’s hearty laughter, Kathe Wohlfahrt offering handmade ornaments, nutcrackers & collectibles from Germany and much more festive fun! Our Hotel Decorations are Truly Magical!

For Registered Overnight Guests staying with us – be sure to take a tour of Christmas Decorations this season!

Start off in the main lobby, built in 1922 in the midst of the “Roaring Twenties”. Take a journey back in time as your explore the Corinthian columns and replicas of the original lighting fixtures hung overhead. Swing by The Tap Room, festive with holiday spirit and oversized lighted ornaments, a nice pause for a Hot Toddy before continuing on your way to the Lobby level.

Continue to the Mural Ballroom, named for the outstanding murals painted in 1936 by famed American artist, George Gray. Tell the story of Bethlehem from the walking purchase of William Penn into the industrial age. Be surrounded by a glistening fifteen foot tree and wreaths emulating the Christmas spirit. Enjoy the aromas and splendor of our on-site restaurant, 1741 On the Terrace, as you make your way through our “Christmas in the Garden” themed room. Recently restored to replicate the original solarium concept of 1922, this room offers a fantastic view of the National Historic Landmark District that is truly breathtaking.

Lastly, take a stroll to the second floor mezzanine overlooking the lobby and the grand marble staircase. You’ll have a fantastic view, not only of the merry holiday crowd, but also the outstanding hand painted nativity display over the main entrance. Wrap up your tour on your way to our Grand Ballroom, to experience the festive wreaths, garland and another fifteen foot Christmas tree to compliment the opulent and historic space.

Available in The Shoppe is our Annual Commemorative Christmas Tin! Where 3 businesses work together to produce a memorable gift that everyone will love this Christmas season. Bazzini peppermint bark fills the inside of the tin which features a custom water painting on the outside by local artist, Mary Jane Lahr! It truly captures the spirit of Christmas in Bethlehem. The painting this year features the beautiful arch windows of the Hotel and how lovely they look at Christmas time.

We also feature our “One-of-a-Kind” Historic Hotel Bethlehem ornament sold year round that was designed exclusively for the Hotel.
